This page will be used to show ideas for projects as well as showing my latest custom builds.
One of my current projects is based on the CAT 730 extended rear chassis service truck shown here.
The real machine is used at Caterpillar's proving ground in Malaga, Spain.
Some photo's of my model are below. Although not the sharpest of pictures you will be able to make out the multiserv livery decals.
Although not visible on the real machine, it does have the cut away body design. The model needs a red crane added which is just visible on the top photo of the real machine. The cut away area is used to carry wheels, rams etc and the tanks carry oil, grease and fuel.
Here are some images of the service truck bodies which I have recently completed. The first body is in MultiServ colours whereas the second was due to be painted in CAT colours. Both models still require a small crane adding.
The 2 completed bodies, both painted and decalled. I'm not sure which one I prefer! Both these models went to customers but like other models, I will be adding one to my own collection!
This is a photo of an operators station that is to be part of an undergroung drilling rig, based on an adt. It was commisioned by a local customer and will be a complete scratch build.
Below are some images of the scratch built CAT 740 ejector model. I have recieved dozens of e-mails regarding this truck and as you can see, the model is coming on. I will post images of the complete machine very shortly.
Above left: Cab cut up and taking shape.
Above: The 740 ejector in comparison to the 730.
Left: Comparison of ejector bodies. The model is now 80% complete.
Taken from some of my old DJB literature, I will shortly be building a model based loosely on this ADT.
My latest addition to my collection. A CAT D400E ejector!
The ejector being loaded by a CAT 365 BL.
The ejector body in the ejection process.
Note the beacon and roof mounted air cleaner. The cab still requires re-assembling but the paint was still wet when the photo was taken!
Although a bigger version of the CAT 730 truck, I like this model due to its 'old school' rugged looks.
Another new conversion!
Based on a CAT D350D, this model is to be a DJB low profile truck.
Although at an early stage, the new cab can clearly be seen along with the lowered air cleaner.
And here it is!
With the exception of a couple of touch ups, here is the complete DJB low profile machine.
This side shot clearly shows the smaller wheels used to make the machine even lower!
I had thought about cutting the body down lower but the photo I used for reference had the same style of 'higher' side boards.
Instead I cut the head board down which reduced the overall height drastically!
A view of the back of the cab.
The rear window bars can clearly be seen.
As I intend to weather this model I even bent one to look dented!
A comparison shot of a standard CAT D350D along with the low profile model.
What a difference in height!
The new light location is also evident in this shot along with the short exhaust pipe.
A final shot of the low profile machine.
Although not 100% finished just yet, I am delighted with this model.
Another batch of CAT 730 ejector bodies nearing completion.
The ejector bodies along with more service truck bodies.
This complete batch is due to go to the USA.
Although out for a little while now, I finally got round to buying a JCB 3CX.
This is a great model with some fantastic detail.
Its a pity the rear stabilizers dont operate and the front bucket only semi-tips!
The 3CX is pictured here on the roadside carrying out trench work. It is a cracking model and comes highly recommended.
A final shot of the 3CX along with the Bomag roller.
This model completes a scene within the diaramma.
So here is the latest creation from the bench!
This is a DJB D350C LM (Light Materials), based on the CAT D350D.
To be honest this is a pretty easy model to build but gives such an impression as it is huge!
The model features an extended rear chassis and a complete scratch built body and tailgate.
The truck is based on photos and drawings of actual machines I have in my DJB literature.
The model requires some tailgate chains in these pics.
A side on view of the complete model.
I decided to give the truck a fictional company name which is pretty simple but bold.
Another side shot, this time with body raised.
Note the beacon and air conditioner on the cab roof.
A final shot of the DJB D350C LM.
This was a great model to build but took ages due to all the ribbing on the body!
I am pleased with the final result and can't wait to get the chains on the tailgate.
